Based in New York City, David Burgstahler is a co-founder of Avista Healthcare Partners. He spent 11 years as a founding partner with the healthcare investing firm, and in 2009 advanced to the position of president. He led many marketing and strategic initiatives during his time as president, including portfolio development efforts that improved the firm’s efficiency, affordability, and innovation. David Burgstahler also transitioned Avista from a general healthcare investor to a firm investing exclusively in product-oriented healthcare businesses.
In 2016, David Burgstahler assumed the roles of managing partner and chief executive officer at Avista Healthcare Partners. He has continued to guide the firm through periods of considerable institutionalization and growth, as well as a significant overhaul of the company’s governance model. His efforts have enhanced the company’s ability to achieve value creation and market positioning.
After receiving his aerospace engineering degree from the University of Kansas, Mr. Burgstahler completed a master of business administration program at Harvard Business School.
